Welcome to the SVC Blog! An Introduction + a Discount Code!

Welcome to the SVC Blog!

Hi everyone! I'm so happy you're here. Welcome to the So Vintage Chic Blog! If we haven't met before, let me share a few things about myself.

 !

I'm Kendra. I'm a mom of three littles, a wife, and a Seattleite. I drink coffee all day until it's appropriate to drink wine. I'm a sucker for reality TV (Bachelor or Teen Mom, anyone?). I get dressed to drop off at preschool and then put sweats back on the second I get home because coziness is a top priority around here. I'm a wannabe foodie (current obsessions: raw oysters and ramen!). I love my family, I couldn't do life without my best friends, and I love what I get to do for a living.

I'm the founder of So Vintage Chic, a pillow business that started as a mommy hobby four years ago and has since then expanded to something beyond what I ever expected. I spend my days in my little home office and create pillows that I have now seen perfectly nestled in thousands of homes all over the world. It makes me giddy to see people use my pillows so artistically and uniquely in their spaces; one little part of making a house into a home. My favorite (and probably most unexpected) part of my business is the amazing community of people that I've been able to connect with. I have a group of business owners, bloggers, and creatives that I can share business fails and wins with. I have an Instagram community that has given me a handful of real-life, hang out on the weekends friends. I love meeting people in person that I have had a long-term social media relationship with. Whoever said that Social Media is killing friendships was so, so wrong!

In the first few days of this year, I sat down with my husband (my partner-in-crime/business mastermind/secret weapon) to discuss my business goals and vision for 2017. While I want to be able to make more pillows and reach more people, what I kept coming back to was this community. I want to connect with people. I want to inspire people to love their lives and homes. I want to share life with people beyond the pretty pillows! So the clear next step for me was expanding the business beyond pillow making and starting conversations through blogging.

In this blog, I want to talk about the real-deal, not-so-pretty parts of my life. I want to talk about home decor and makeup and being a work-at-home mom, but I also want to talk about the things that deeply matter to me. I want to talk about building community, the ins and outs of parenting, and difficult seasons of life. The beautiful and the messy. Here's what it comes down to: I want to show you the real-deal Kendra, so that in return I can connect with the real-deal people across the screen. I want to start conversations that matter. I want to hear what you're loving and the things that you struggle with too.

My hope is that when you read my blog, you'll feel like you're sitting in my living room, probably with a cup of coffee or a glass of red wine (there's probably kids screaming in the background, too!). I'm going to talk like I do with my girlfriends - we hop from lipstick and Happy Hour spots to real life struggle talk in about three seconds flat. We laugh hard and cry often. We have fun and don't take life too seriously. We love Jesus but we swear a little (sorry, not sorry!). We know we get one chance to live this life and we want to do it around the people we love.

So here's to a new adventure in the SVC world, I'm excited to have you along for the ride. I'm so excited to meet you, to make new friendships, and to share the things I love. Comment below and introduce yourself and tell me your favorite guilty pleasure!! ALSO stay tuned later this week for my first Decor post!

XO,

Kendra

Guilty pleasure—looking at houses on Redfin and imagining how I can remodel them to be my perfect home. . . I literally do it all. The. Time. ? (And maybe sneaking a glass of wine at lunch on occasion). So happy for you Kendra!!!
