Introducing Linen & Ivory (AND a discount code!!)

If you haven’t noticed, things look a little different around here! This has been brewing for months, and we’ve officially made the switch to our brand new name! Introducing Linen & Ivory. I’m so excited to share this with you.

I’ve wrote about it before, but when I started So Vintage Chic I was just a crafter on Etsy. I just needed a side hobby to keep me sane while I was adjusting to new motherhood. I was sewing and mod-podge’ing (what is even the correct term for that?) and, conveniently, people wanted to buy this stuff! So I threw up a shop on Etsy, and decided on a name that worked for crafting: So Vintage Chic.

In the past four years we have rebranded FOUR times. I made my first business card with the tiny bit I knew of graphic design, then eventually I bought a template on Etsy and that worked for a while, then we finally took the jump and got a graphic designer who made our previous brand, but this time we’re changing our NAME for the first time and it feels so big. But I love this picture because I can see the whole process. From the small beginnings where we threw together what we could, to the slow growing and expanding to a brand that really feels like me. If it’s any encouragement to you readers, it’s okay to start really small. You don’t have to have the perfect brand, the perfect name, or the perfectly designed graphic suite. It’s okay to move and change as you go.

But as So Vintage Chic grew and evolved to what it is today, the business name got further and further away from my style and the focus of my business. It started to feel a little dated, a little distant. So last year, Ryan and I sat at a winery with some friends and brainstormed. (Pro Tip: if you ever need to rename your business, do it at a winery. Inspiration flows when you’re sipping wine in pretty places.)

On a crumpled piece of paper with a list of Walla Walla restaurants on top, we listed out words that are meaningful to my business. Words that capture the feeling of what So Vintage Chic has transformed into. We thought about my style (Farmhouse, Rustic, White), words that are meaningful to me (legacy, home, purpose) and made an insane amount of word combinations. (Most of which I would be embarrassed to put in print!)

We decided we needed something fresh, something that feels like a cozy pillow in a beautiful home. We wanted a name that feels like my pillows. Linen. Ivory. Fresh. White. Classic.

And it was decided. Linen & Ivory.

Of course we hopped up and walked to the next winery and, lo and behold, the best kind of confirmation I could have ever asked for… Linen Wine. So we poured a glass and made a toast to a new season and a new, updated version of this little business I love so much.

Of course it took a while to make the transition. Business cards had to be used up and logos had to be made and I had to mentally prepare to say goodbye to my first business name. But here we are. Linen & Ivory. We’re so excited to share this with you!

(P.S. while we clear out SVC inventory, you may still receive pillows with a So Vintage Chic pillow hang tag!)

….. And as a little celebration I’m offering 25% off my entire store with the code LINENANDIVORY until the end of the weekend!! The only other time I EVER do this big of a discount is on Black Friday so get it while you can!
